Answer: Difference between problem identification research and problem solving research with examples Although problem identification research and problem solving research are interrelated but there exists some basic differences between the two types of marketing research. Before identifying the problem in the research, it is important for the researcher to gather the information of the subject before addressing the research problem. It is important for the researcher to check that the problem that is identified is not too narrow or vague. This is important because it is necessary to understand the nature of the problem and solve it accordingly (Sekaran Bougie, 2016). In problem identification research, the researcher conducts the research to identify such problems which are not clear or apparently identified or visible and this type of problem may emerge or lead to certain risks in future. Examples of problem identification research are the market share or sales analysis of a particular company. On the other hand, in problem solving research, the researcher conducts the research to identify the specific marketing problem which exists or is easily recognizable. Examples of problem solving research are segmentation, promotion, pricing and distribution.
